The year that was: Bricks and Mortar by Diane Leyman
{Throughout January, we're looking back at all the posts our awesome columnists wrote for us in 2012, before our team of some new and some returning contributors start blogging in February.} Our Bricks & Mortar columnist Diane Leyman visited a lot of great places around Melbourne this year - shops, studios, schools and more. Some of them you can visit yourself, others you can only visit through these words and pictures. After years working as a product designer and experiencing great success selling her own line of jewellery at markets around Melbourne, Bec developed a pretty good head for business and decided to open up a shop close to her home in Carnegie, not only as an outlet for her own work, but also as a way to promote other local independent designers.
